An Ode to Honest Materials
The story of project Rustic Refined is about uncovering a home's true potential. Our clients had found a property with the dream combination of interesting architecture and stunning views, all nestled in the quiet Texas Hill Country. The problem? Faux materials and ornate finishes were at odds with the earthy, unassuming luxury the homeowners craved.
The design process became an exercise in nature-based principles, allowing organic materials like Texas limestone, Douglas fir, and reclaimed oak to give the home a deep sense of place.

Design Plans - From Vision to Reality
Our team worked in partnership with Mark Richardson Architects and Dalgleish Construction Company to expand living spaces for better flow while emphasizing textures and contrasts using leathered quartzite countertops, steel-framed windows, and mixed wood elements.

“Every material is in its pure state. The quartzite countertops are leathered and have that feeling of being from the earth. The kitchen hood is copper, and the plumbing fixtures are either galvanized steel or oil-rubbed bronze. You want to touch everything.”
Step Inside
A Refined Rustic Abode
A pared-back color palette allowed the home's materials to shine. Layers of wool, linen, and leather added texture, while custom features, like the dining room's built-in display shelves, provided the scale the home needed. In keeping with our client's vision, we maintained an earthy and honest feel throughout, establishing a strong connection with nature.
